Monoprints

In todays lesson, we learned about monoprinting.

Wikipedia says that Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has images or lines that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking where there are a number of originals.

The materials and equipment that we used in todays lesson were:

  • ink
  • newspaper
  • roller
  • plastic board
  • paper
  • sticks

Before we started we went through a few healthy safety risks, these were:

  • spills of water
  • allergies
  • clothing (making sure that an apron is worn)

My favourite piece of work that i created was a design of my name. To do this i used sticks to write my name as well as using different colour inks which were blue and black.

To create the prints you have to roll out a layer of thin ink onto a surface and then place paper over the top, i drew onto the back of the paper, i peeled off paper and drew different patterns into the ink using different tools to create different thicknesses of lines. A technique that i never used but is very good is to use your fingers to create a shading techniques.

I like doing Monoprints I like the way I using different colours; blue and black to make my design of my name.

Pattern Pizza

In order to create this pattern, i scaled the shape down to 2cm x 2cm. i then selected the whole image and created a pattern, by selecting edit and make pattern.

pattern pizza

Today we had to draw a number of patterns on a pizza base. The shapes that we focused on were different types of triangles. We learned about 3; an equilateral triangle which has three equal sides, an isosceles triangle which has two equal sides and a scalene triangle where no sides are equal. I also used rectangles, circles, squares and pentagons to create a pattern for my pizza.

I created this using the adobe illustrator and created a new file using A4 paper making it landscape. Some of the tools I used were the polygon tool and click art board also i set the radius for triangle.
